Metadata
Remove EXIF and document metadata before sharing
Metadata is useful inside a workflow and risky outside it. Photos may contain camera and location fields; office documents and PDFs may expose authors, software, dates, or internal titles.
What to remove
A sanitized derivative should omit inherited metadata, embedded thumbnails, comments, and revision artifacts.
- EXIF and XMP fields
- PDF author and title
- Embedded thumbnails
- Annotations and attachments
Why new encoding helps
FreeRedact decodes the visible page and creates a new output. It does not copy the source metadata container into the result.
